Riva del Garda is located in the northwest corner of Lake Garda. On the west side stands overlooking Monte Rocchetta (1575 m) while on the east side stands the Monte Baldo (2218 m). This location makes it one of the most spectacular places of Lake Garda. Renowned tourist resort, Riva is a mecca for sailing and windsurfing and important sporting events.
Riva's main square, with its Lombard-Venetian style buildings, opens on the lake and shows wonderful porches of the 15th century, noble palaces and the Apponale Tower, built around 1200, now crowned by an angel called 'Anzolim de la Tor'. The church of the Inviolata, one of the most striking religious buildings all over the Trentino, was built in 1603: the exterior is simple but the interior is gorgeous, rich in altars, decorations and paintings of the best artists of the time. The church can be considered the finest example of Baroque architecture in Trentino.
